Listen to the Word
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
Sometimes people misquote this week’s Scripture and try to turn it into a glib promise that only good things will happen to us if we love God. Some folks have the idea that if you have faith, God will put an invisible force field around you that will prevent you from getting sick, losing your job, or having overdue fines at the library. But the Scripture doesn’t say that bad things will never happen to you. It says that in everything that happens to you, the good things and the bad things, God is working for your good. It says that when bad things happen to you, they will not be able to defeat God’s ultimate plans for you. God will never be caught off guard by anything that comes your way. And no matter what comes, he will be working for your good.
Live the Word
Take a moment to thank God for being bigger than the biggest problem you face.
