Listen to the Word
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (Matthew 24:35)
Matthew records a number of truly audacious claims Jesus made. The one in today’s Scripture may top the list. He said that his words were the most permanent things in the universe. After Everest collapses, the Pacific dries up, and the last star goes supernova, Jesus’ words will still be around.
The words of Jesus are permanent, eternal, and unfailing. His promises have no expiration date. His truths are not time-bound. His instructions for living are not limited to particular times and places. His words never cease to be reliable. They never cease to be relevant. They never cease to be.
You want to build your life on a something that will last. So build your life on the undying words of the Messiah.
Live the Word
Flip to a page of the Gospel of Matthew and look for some red words. Ponder the fact that those words are permanent.
