Sunday Morning Worship

Every Sunday morning at 9:30, our church family gathers to worship with “…one mind and one voice” (Romans 15:6). Our worship is marked by creativity and an intention to enable worshipers of every generation to participate with exuberance and understanding. Above all, we prioritize exalting Jesus and experiencing transformation in His presence.

Worship is a conversation. We speak to God through songs, prayers, and a spiritual connection. God speaks to us as we understand scripture and listen to the Holy Spirit. As we experience the worship conversation, we are continually transformed to more closely resemble Jesus in our attitudes and behavior. As a result of the worship conversation, we take action to obey God’s direction in our lives through generosity, service, and proclaiming the good news of salvation in Jesus’ name.

Worship Choir

The Worship Choir meets each Wednesday evening from 6:45 to 8:00 to prepare to lead in Sunday morning worship gatherings and special seasonal events. Each Sunday, in partnership with the orchestra, the choir leads congregational worship songs, introduces the church to new worship music, and frequently shares a featured musical selection.

To get involved in choir, simply attend a Wednesday rehearsal. No audition or previous musical experience is necessary.

worship Orchestra

The Worship Orchestra meets each Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:15 to prepare to serve on Sunday mornings. The orchestra accompanies the choir and congregation during several Sunday mornings each month and frequently shares a featured instrumental selection.

The Worship Orchestra welcomes orchestral string, brass, woodwind, and percussion players as well as keyboard instrumentalists, guitarists, bassists, and drummers (see additional information below). To get involved in orchestra, please complete the Worship Ministry Interest Form or contact Lee Barnett, Minister of Worship and Connection.

Interested players typically participate in rehearsal and schedule an informal conversation with the Minister of Worship and Connection to determine the best way for them to get started with orchestra.

Keyboard Instruments

Piano, organ, synthesizers, and other keyboard instruments are a vital part of our Sunday worship gatherings as a part of the Worship Orchestra, in smaller ensembles, or individually.

Opportunities exist for keyboard instrumentalists of all backgrounds and ability levels. To find a place to serve, please complete the Worship Ministry Interest Form or contact Lee Barnett.

Drums, Bass, Guitar

Drummers, bassists, and acoustic or electric guitarists can get involved in the Worship Orchestra as well as other worship band opportunities. Most players serving in these roles learn their parts by listening to reference recordings alongside standard musical notation. The church provides instruments, amplifiers, and electronic effects capable of achieving the best instrumental sound for our worship gatherings.

To find a place to serve, please complete the Worship Ministry Interest Form or contact Lee Barnett.

Worship Production Volunteers

Every Sunday morning worship gathering or special event requires the skills of multiple worship production volunteers. By creatively and skillfully controlling audio, video, lighting, and livestream technologies, these volunteers create an environment for meaningful worship and facilitate the participation of every worshiper, both in person and online.

No previous experience is required to become a worship production volunteer, and significant training opportunities exist. To discover how you can get involved, please complete the Worship Ministry Interest Form or contact Carl Gregory.

Drama

FBCLS has a long tradition of creating opportunities to serve the church through drama. We occasionally incorporate dramatic arts pieces into our Sunday morning gatherings or special seasonal events.

To find a place to serve, please complete the Worship Ministry Interest Form or contact Lee Barnett, Minister of Worship and Connection.

Mosaic for Grades 6-12

In Mosaic, students in grades 6-12, discover their unique gifts and develop creative skills to serve the church by selecting two options from a wide variety of small group tracks. Mosaic Collective, our student choir and worship band, spends a high-energy half hour learning songs to share during Sunday morning worship gatherings, midweek student worship, and as a part of a summer mission trip.

Mosaic meets each Sunday evening from 5:00 to 6:30. Click here for more information about Mosaic or contact Jaron Moots or Matt Parker.

First Arts for Grades K-5

First Arts is a worship and discipleship program for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade. First Arts participants select two fine arts or creative discipleship tracks.

All First Arts kids participate in Worship Lab, a fun-filled, moving, grooving, singing, playing, and praising half hour designed to grow lifelong worshipers and worship leaders. Worship Lab kids have multiple opportunities to lead our congregation in worship every semester.

First Arts meets each Sunday evening from 5:00 to 6:30. Click here for more information about First Arts or contact Kimberley McElroy.

First Arts Spark for Preschoolers

In First Arts Spark, preschoolers engage in music and worship discovery activities each week. The preschool years are a critical time in child’s life to develop a musical aptitude and discover the fundamentals of faith. First Arts Spark activities are intentionally designed to maximize a preschooler’s growth during this critical window.

First Arts Spark meets each Sunday evening from 5:00 to 6:30. Click here for more information about First Arts Spark or contact Rachel Esely.
