Listen to the Word
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)
This week’s verse says some stunning things about our identity in Christ. The first big statement is that we are a chosen people.
Perhaps you feel unwanted or unlovable. You probably know the pain of not being chosen. It was time for a promotion at work, and you were passed over for someone who didn’t seem to be as qualified. It was time for choosing teams in gym class, and you were the last one leaning against the fence. But get this: God says, “I pick YOU!” You are chosen by God.
Live the Word
Ask Christ to help you to see who you are in him. Ask him to remind you that what matters is not the opinion of others, or even your opinion of yourself. What matters is who God says you are.
