Listen to the Word
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)
The third description of our identity in Christ sounds a little farfetched: God says we are a holy nation.
You may feel impure and guilty. You are probably painfully aware of your flaws. But God declares that you are holy. You are pure, set apart for him. If you are a follower of Christ, you are holy because of Christ. He has washed you clean with his blood, and he has traded your raggedness for his righteousness. As citizens of his kingdom, together we are a holy nation.
Live the Word
Every time you wash your hands today, say a prayer of thanks to Christ for cleansing you.
