Listen to the Word
I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. (Revelation 1:18)
Death seems so final. It is supposed to be the conclusion of the story, the final out in the bottom of the 9th, the curtain falling after the last act. But when Jesus died, he was just getting started. He strolled out of his own tomb almost 2000 years ago, and he is still going strong. And for followers of Jesus, death is not the end. It is a transition to a new, better kind of life. It is not the period at the end of a sentence – it is a comma. It is not the end of the road – it is an on ramp leading to an even better destination.
Thanks to Jesus, the Living One, death is not final!
Live the Word
Write this week’s verse on a card, and try to commit it to memory.
