Listen to the Word

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.    (Matthew 11:28-29)

The final command Jesus gives as the path to rest is “learn from me.” You are invited to learn how to live from the undisputed master of life – to enroll in school with the ultimate Teacher. Jesus wants you to learn from the rhythm of his life, from his priorities, from his prayers, from his trust, from his teachings. He wants you to sit at his feet and learn.

Resting is something we aren’t innately very good at. It is a learned skill. We have to be taught how to do it. And Jesus wants to teach us how to rest in him.
