Listen to the Word
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17)
Happy Thanksgiving! This week many will enjoy some time away from work, gather with family, stuff themselves silly, watch a little football, and maybe drag out a few Christmas decorations. Hopefully somewhere in the mix will be some genuine gratitude. Perhaps in the middle of a meal, the realization will dawn that the bite of turkey you are chewing is a gift from an amazingly generous Father. Maybe there will be a moment of reflecting on how God has taken care of you as you journeyed through the last year. Perhaps you will be struck out of the blue by what a huge blessing it is to have some simple thing that you take for granted, like a roof over your head or shoes on your feet or air in your lungs. Take advantage of this week when the calendar reminds you of your responsibility to give thanks, and express your appreciation to the Giver of every good and perfect gift.
Live the Word
Think of at least three everyday blessings you normally take for granted, and spend a moment thanking God for them.
