Listen to the Word
If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up. (Daniel 3:17-18)
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego have “even if” faith. They will remain true to God even if he doesn’t rescue them, even if he doesn’t do what they want him to do.
What about you? What do you do when God doesn’t come through for you like you want him to? What do you do when prayers are not answered how you want or when you want? Do you still trust him? Perhaps your commitment is conditional - if you get your way, if God behaves like you want him to, then you’ll live for him.
God wants you to trust him recklessly. He wants you to trust him “even if.”
