Listen to the Word

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  (Philippians 4:6-7)

Our Scripture promises that when we pray, we will experience peace. And not just any peace – God’s peace. God has a lot of peace – he is never worried, he has complete confidence in his own ability to run the universe, nothing gives him ulcers. He is completely calm, and he wants you to experience his peace.

It is a peace that transcends your understanding. A loose translation: God’s peace will blow your mind. It doesn’t make sense. It is beyond any rational explanation. Maybe you have seen it in action in a friend who faces hardship with an inner strength you didn’t know they possessed. Maybe you have experienced it yourself during a season in which the walls are crashing down around you, yet for reasons you can’t fully comprehend, you are ok. You may not be able to figure out his peace, but he promises that you will experience it if you come to him in prayer.

Live the Word

Ask God to replace your anxiety with his peace. Tell him you don’t need to understand it, but you desperately need to experience it.
