Listen to the Word

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  (John 3:16)

God gives us the gift of Jesus. If we receive that gift, we get something else as part of the package. Our Scripture says that if we believe in him, we will have eternal life.

Have you ever gotten a gift within a gift? I once gave my wife a book, and inside the book were some tickets to a play based on the book. I heard about someone who received a pair of gloves, and inside each of the fingers of the gloves was a twenty dollar bill (if you got any gloves for Christmas, you might want to try them on).

Within the gift of God’s one and only Son comes the gift of life. Eternal life. The real, meaningful, joyful, purposeful, never-ending life for which we were created. If you receive the Son, you also receive that life.

Live the Word

Ask God to help you live today in light of the fact that you will live forever with him. Ask him to help you focus on things that matter forever, not temporary things.
