Listen to the Word

“Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings who cannot save.” (Psalm 146:3)

Political ads bombarding us right now tend to scream two messages at us: THEIR candidate is going to ruin the world, and OUR candidate is going to save us. If you believe those ads, you have a theological problem. You are counting on the wrong thing. You are expecting a human politician to do what they won’t do – what they CAN’T do. Neither the Republican party nor the Democratic party will fulfill your hopes. Your Savior is not named Kamala or Donald. The position of Messiah has already been filled. There will never be a vacancy for that office. Jesus holds that office as long as he lives, and he lives forever. Your candidate is not the answer. Your party is not the answer. Don’t put your trust in princes!
