Listen to the Word

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)

Let’s try a little imagination experiment. Think of the thing you fear the most – the biggest, hairiest, scariest monster in your life. Now picture you and that beast in a boxing ring, preparing for one on one combat. It’s a terrifying image, isn’t it?

But hear God say that that’s not the way it is. “The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Picture him in the ring with you – the God who ignited the sun and scooped out the Grand Canyon. Imagine him hiding you behind himself and wiping the floor with that thing that frightens you. Notice how the big hairy monster you fear compares to your bigger, stronger God.

Your life may be filled with battles, but you do not fight them alone. The Lord, the Mighty Warrior, is with you.

Live the Word

Take your biggest fear and lift it to God in prayer. Ask him to fight for you.
