Listen to the Word

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.  (Mark 1:17-18)

Jesus found some fishermen in a boat and offered them a promotion: follow me, and you can start fishing for people. And they followed him at once! They left their nets, walking away from their careers and from life as they knew it. He didn’t even tell them where they would be going. Still, they took the risk of following Him.

Jesus extends the same call to us: “Follow me! Go where I lead you. Live as I instruct you. Follow me.” Answering that call is still a risk. It involves leaving some familiar things behind. We don’t know everything the journey will hold or everywhere it will take us. Will you follow? Will you follow at once?

Live the Word

Is there an area of your life where your obedience to Christ has been less than immediate? Ask him to help you follow him “at once” in that matter.
