Listen to the Word
Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)
After investing his life in a failed quest to find lasting happiness in the things this world has to offer, the writer of Ecclesiastes reaches "the conclusion of the matter": The path to real happiness is to live God's way. We are to "fear God and keep his commandments." He says this is the duty of every human. That is our entire job description: respect God and obey him.
What really matters is not your IQ, or your weight, or how many parties you attend, or how far up the corporate ladder you climb, or how large you can grow your bank balance. What really matters is whether or not you know God and experience his life filling yours. A meaningful life full of enduring happiness is found only as a byproduct of a relationship with God.
Live the Word
Ask God to work in your heart to re-rank the value you place on the things of this world compared to the value you place on your relationship with him.
