Listen to the Word

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.  (Deuteronomy 31:8)

Here is one more promise that can deflate your fear of the future: God will go before you when you are afraid.

A dark room is a scary place for a toddler. Who knows what might be lurking in the closet or under the bed? Nobody wants to face such a frightening spot alone. But if Mom or Dad goes in first, the room isn’t nearly as threatening. Deuteronomy assures us that God will go before us into every dark room we will face. And he is way bigger than any monster that might be hiding in the corner. We can face the future with confidence because we know that God is blazing the trail, always present with us to protect us and guide us. He will go before you when you are afraid!
