Listen to the Word
Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (2 Timothy 2:22)
Our Scripture gives us very direct orders with regard to temptation: flee from it! We have a tendency to flirt with temptation and dabble in sin, but that is dangerous. Temptation is like a telemarketer – the best strategy is to refuse to pick up the phone and say hello.
If you are a gazelle and you see a lion approaching, you don’t want to hang around and see what will happen. You want to run. And that is actually a pretty accurate description of our situation. The Bible says that the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour. This temptation is serious. Don’t mess with it. Run.
Live the Word
Is there a sin you have been dabbling with lately? Confess that to God, and ask for his forgiveness.
