Listen to the Word
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (Ephesians 4:29)
Your words have tremendous power for good. They can give direction to the lost, or encouragement to the broken, or hope to the desperate. Your words can bring life. But your words can also kill. They can be weapons that wound a soul or ruin a reputation. They can spew verbal venom on everyone within earshot.
God has a plan for the way you use your mouth. We will spend the week reflecting on what he reveals of that plan in Ephesians 4:29. Many of us have such struggles with the way we use words that this single verse could give us plenty to work on for the next several years. May God use this verse to make your mouth his instrument.
Live the Word
Commit Ephesians 4:29 to memory, or write it on a card and keep that card in a prominent place this week.
