Listen to the Word
People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (1 Timothy 6:9-10)
Our Scripture uses an agricultural image to describe the negative impact of wanting more money. It says the love of money is the ROOT of all kinds of evil. Your constant craving for more causes all kinds of nasty things to spring up: Greed. Envy. Coveting. Stealing. Chunking your morals to get ahead. Constant dissatisfaction and joylessness. Selfishness. The list goes on and on. When you love money, you nourish the growth of all kinds of evil in your life.
Live the Word
Confess to God your tendency to want more. Ask him to help you to be content with what you have.
