Listen to the Word
If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up. (Daniel 3:17-18)
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego set a good example for us to follow when we are in a hopeless situation: they expect a miracle, but they don’t demand one.
They know that God is ABLE to save - after all, what could be too hard for a God who made everything out of nothing and raised Jesus from the dead? They believe that God WILL save - after all, he loves us so much that he didn’t even spare his own Son. They expect a miraculous rescue to happen. But they don’t demand it. They plan to trust God whatever he decides to do.
Your situation may be desperate. Recklessly trust God’s ability to rescue you. And recklessly follow him even if he doesn’t.
Live the Word
Reflect on the power of God revealed in creation and in Christ’s resurrection. Ask God to remind you that his power is greater than your problems.
