Listen to the Word

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. (Colossians 3:23)

This week’s verse reminds us that there must be an intersection between your faith and your work. You can’t live life with your job in one compartment and your relationship with God in another. Your occupation may be as a boss or as an employee or as a homemaker or as a student. Whatever it is, Christ wants you to do it with him. If you separate your faith in Christ from your job, you are leaving him out of the place where you spend most of your waking hours. You are blocking him out of many of the relationships in your life. You are keeping him away from a primary place where your values are tested.

There must be a connection between your faith in Christ and your work. Jesus wants to go to work with you.

Invite God to join you at work this week. Ask him to remind you of his presence with you all week long.
