Listen to the Word
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:11-13)
God has a plan for you, and it is a good plan. He intends to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future. In the New Testament, Paul calls God’s plan “his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” It is a blueprint for your future that cannot be improved upon.
God’s plans for your life are better than your own. He sees more clearly than you do, and he loves you even more than you love yourself, so he is a much better planner than you are. If you could design your own future, deciding in advance all that will happen to you and all you will accomplish, it would be unwise to do it. God’s plans for you are even better. He has a good plan for your life.
Live the Word
Ask God to help you live according to his plans, not your own. Pray as Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane: “Not what I want, but what You want.”
