Listen to the Word

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.  (Galatians 5:13)

God has given you an amazing gift: He has made you free. To a large extent, you are free to determine what you will do with the day before you. If you wish, you can use it to “indulge the sinful nature.” You can spend the day obsessed with your own selfish wants, worries, plans, and pleasures. In Galatians 5:13, God calls you to a different use of your freedom. He challenges you to make the radical, free choice to spend this day making a difference in the lives of others. He calls you to serve others in love. How will you use your freedom today?

To listen to someone is a profound act of service. Today, slow down and really listen to the people who speak to you.
