Listen to the Word

“Better a little with the fear of the LORD than great wealth with turmoil. Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred.”  (Proverbs 15:16-17)

Money is not what matters most. It can be a good thing to have, but it is not a god. Today’s Scripture says money ranks lower on the importance chart than the fear of the LORD and love. In fact, the category of “things that are greater than money” is a really large category.

You can have all the money in the world, but if you are missing out on those more valuable things, you will just be rich and empty. It is foolish to devote ourselves to pursuing something like money, with its relatively low value, at the expense of things that really matter.

Live the Word

Make a list of 10 things that are more important than money. Ask God to help you keep money in its proper place further down your priority list.
